Late.Shri.T.K.Pattabhiraman was born on 17th July 1917 and graduated from St.Joseph’s College, Trichy in 1940. He is an Industrialist cum Educationalist in Coimbatore. “Kalvichemmal” Award was presented by the Educational Minister Mr. M.Thambi Durai, Government of Tamilnadu.
He is the recipient of the Indira Gandhi Priyadharshini Award presented in 1995 for outstanding service achievement and contributions in Social, Educational, and Spiritual Services to Society. He was the President of the Coimbatore Cloth Merchants Association for about 20 years. He was the President and Secretary of Sri Ayyappan Pooja Sangham, one of the reputed social and religious institutions in Coimbatore from 1966 to 1981. He was the Chairman & Board of Trustees of Arulmighu Sri Baladhandayuthapani Temple, Sukrawarpet, Coimbatore for the past 10 years. During his period Sri Murugan Temple was completely renovated by conducting Three Sorpozhivu by late Thirumuruga Kribananda Variar.
He was the Founder Managing Trustee of Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple at Thiruvenkitaswamy Road, R.S.Puram, Coimbatore. With the blessings of Centenarian Mahaswamigal of Kanchi Kamakodi Peedom, the Kamakshi Amman Temple was consecrated and Kumbabhishekam was performed in the year 1976. He is the Correspondent and Managing Trustee of Sankara Educational Institutions.
Shri. Pattabhiraman’s thirst to build on the cultural heritage of India did not stop. In 1983, he formed a trust called the Coimbatore Educational and Cultural Foundation Trust that promoted various religious and cultural endeavors across the city and state. This entrepreneur viewed education as the right weapon for empowerment and envisioned the starting of a college. His farsightedness is highly relevant and has become a destiny in action today with two educational institutions in this land, The Sankara Polytechnic College and Sankara College of Science and Commerce where today nearly 2500 students from various backgrounds are pursuing diploma and higher education every year.
